Aaron Tobin is an accomplished trial lawyer whose practice focuses on complex commercial and bankruptcy representation. In an age that elevates self-promotion and "gladiator" litigation (often at the client's expense), Aaron never lets his interests and/or goals diverge from the companies he serves.
"I treat the client's money as if it were my money," he says, of his practice, which emphasizes commercial litigation, creditor rights, and bankruptcy.
He is devoted to his clients' causes, passionate about the law, immersed in the Bar, and never rests in his drive to learn, grow, and preserve.
Aaron regularly represents clients in state and federal courts across Texas and across the country in the areas of breach of contract, business, fraud, securities, oil and gas, and surety litigation. He has successfully tried breach of contract, fiduciary duty, fraud, oil and gas, securities, conspiracy and other business cases in state and federal court.
Aaron frequently represents debtors and creditors in bankruptcy and workout litigation, to include fraudulent transfer, discharge and claims objections, lift stay, adequate protection, confirmation, preference, and other adversary and post-judgment litigation.
He has an active appellate practice with opinions that include: Fitch v. Fitch, 349 B.R. 133 (N. D. Tex. 2006); Old Republic Surety Company v. Bonham State Bank, 172 S.W.3d 210 (Tex. App.—Texarkana 2005, no pet.) and In re: Tri-City Health Centre, Inc., 71 Fed. Appx. 441, 2003 WL 21418108 (5th Cir.).
In 2009 and 2010, Texas Monthly named Aaron a Rising Star in its Super Lawyer publications. This honor is only bestowed on the top 2 ½ % of Texas lawyers eligible for the award.
He is a member of the State Bar of Texas, the Dallas Bar Association, the Texas Young Lawyers Association, the Dallas Association of Young Lawyers, and is a Barrister in the Patrick E. Higginbotham American Inn of Court. Through the Dallas Bar Association, he serves as a Vice-Chair of the Public Forum Committee and serves on the Judiciary and Mock Trial Committees. He is a member of the Dallas Bar’s Trial Skills, Business Litigation and Bankruptcy sections. In addition, he was extended an invitation to serve on the Committee for a Qualified Judiciary, where he began serving in 2010.
Aaron has served as a Board of Director for the Dallas Association of Young Lawyers, and is currently a Trustee on the DAYL Foundation Board. He was a member of the 2006 Leadership Class, and is a DAYL Life Fellow. Aaron is active in pro bono and volunteers with the Big Brothers Big Sisters of North Texas program.
Aaron received his Juris Doctor from the Southern Methodist University School of Law in 2000. While in law school, he spent time abroad studying at University College in Oxford, England. In 1996, he graduated cum laude with departmental honors from the University of Kentucky with a BBA. His academic accomplishments earned him membership with Beta Gamma Sigma and the Golden Key National Honor Society.
Aaron is admitted to practice in all courts in the State of Texas, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, the United States District Courts for the Northern, Southern, Eastern, and Western Districts of Texas and the Northern District of Illinois.
